Virus Komputer Rayakan 40 Tahun Eksistensinya

Tahukah Anda jika virus komputer ternyata sudah lama hadir. Menurut catatan perusahaan keamanan Trend Micro, tepat bulan Juli 2011, program jahat memasuki perayaan 40 tahun keberhasilannya dalam hal menimbulkan rasa was-was bagi para pengguna komputer.

Virus komputer pertama tercatat atas nama The Creeper Worm. Ini merupakan program replikasi diri eksperimental yang ditulis pada tahun 1971.

Istilah 'virus komputer' sendiri pertama kali digunakan pada tahun 1984 untuk menggambarkan sebuah program yang dapat menginfeksi program lain dengan memodifikasi mereka untuk menyertakan salinan yang kemudian berevolusi.

Selain itu, pola serangan dari virus telah berubah seiring waktu. Pada akhir 1990-an, dua virus terkenal 'Melissa' dan 'I Love You', menyebar dengan cepat di internet dan menyebabkan kerugian jutaan dolar berupa kerusakan komputer di seluruh dunia.

Information on the Code Red Virus

The Code Red worm was first discovered and researched by eEye Digital Security employees, Marc Maiffret and Ryan Permeh. Code Red has defacing many Web sites with the message "Hacked By Chinese," experts said. Despite the message, the origin of the virus is unknown.

The ultimate goal of the virus, known as a "worm," is to gather strength by infecting more computers and then have them all attack a numerical Internet address that represents the White House Web site. The assault, which was set to go off Thursday at 8 p.m. EDT, is a denial of service attack, designed to hamper or shut down a computer system by flooding it with huge amounts of data.
